Well you know I have
Jewelry is the best yield, electronics is a waste of money unless you get it for free, Best to sell it off on Ebay,

Selling gold plated items on Ebay is the best way to go. you can sell stuff that may yield only 50 cents a pound in gold for $10 to $20 per pound. Thats $16000 to $32000 per ounce. Now that is treasure!

sadly I have warned many about this, but no one believes it until they either pay too much or process it and wonder where all the gold is.

What amount of heat would it take to melt 1/4 teaspoon of small gold. Will a torch and ladle work ?

Temperature control is very important in refining gold. There's not a lot of difference in the temps of "melted" and "vaporized". There are hundreds if not thousands of tips for refining gold to be found on the net. Research more until you find a method you can handle safely AND economically.

There are great video tutorials on refining fingers in the afore mentioned goldrefiningforum.com and I may take the plunge after a while, should I ever gather up enough material. I understand that it takes up to a pound of fingers to get a gram or three of refined gold, depending on their quality.
The procedure does seem complicated, and labour intensive, however.
