Registration Is Open For The 2026 Texas Archaeological Society Field School

This is always a fun and rewarding event for me so I wanted to pass it on.
The 2026 TAS Field School is taking place in Rockdale, Texas from 6/13 thru 6/30.

The site this year is the probable location of Presideo San Xavier on the San Gabrial River. The Presideo was active from 1740's thru 1755. As with all Missions and Presideo digs, there is a lot of prehistoric artifacts as well, due to the fact that the area was home to the Prehistoric Peoples for thousands of years before the Spanish came.

TAS Field Schools are fun gatherings and they are open to all regardless of age or occupation. You don't even have to be from Texas. You will meet folks from everywhere. This year activities available include: survey work, metal detecting historic and prehistoric excavations, and lab work.
FAMILIES ARE WELCOME

Camping is available as well as hotels, motels, and VRBO's.
Come check it out for a few days or the whole week. You will remember it for a long time.

There is a lot of positive skills sets you could learn from such field schools there should be more of them.

I dig just about every week with HAS. This will be my sixth or seventh field school with TAS. Great bunch for sure. I like to work with the college and high school kids mostly.
