Regulation/Laws concerning metal detecting in Washington

Can anybody steer me in the appropriate direction so I can find info on laws and regulations concerning prospecting and metal detecting in the State of Washington? I want to make sure I am legal. I am new at this and don't want to get into 'trouble'. Thanks,

Here is some info about the state parks I found. I will look for more info as I have time.

Check the spot near bottom that says WAC with a search on Metal Detecting. It will come up about state parks.


Metal Detecting
Metal detecting is permitted at more than 60 state parks throughout Washington. Users of metal detectors must register first with Washington State Parks and comply with posted regulations. dbsmokey - hang in a little longer - all of the gold prospecting and metal detecting rules may be changed very shortly - the legislature has ordered the various state agencies that have anything to do with these exercises to change their rules and the legislators want all the rule changes since 1990 to revert back to before 1990. we will just have to see how it washes out. wayne
