I've been running out of places to go so figured I'd take the Deus to a place we hammered early last year. It's a place where 6 inches of 150 year old fill dirt were spread around a sports field (not on it, no athletic fields were harmed in the making of this dig!) but all the ugly looking areas around the fields are fair game. Back in the glory days of this site we could go there and bring back 10-15 wheats, 2 or 3 silvers and a couple of Indians but gradually it petered out so we stopped hitting it. Well, 3 hunts in a row with Deus proved that nothing is ever hunted out! The first hunt was Saturday where I was shocked to pull 5 Indians in just about 2 hours with 2 of them stuck together (1879 and 1891). Yesterday I went back with a friend, and it was funny, the site seemed to go from coin mode to relic mode as I got two skeleton keys, a hem weight and two spoon pieces but no notable coins. (My friend did pull a BEAUTIFUL 1863 civil war token!) So on my way out yesterday I realized I lost one of the skeleton keys while I was taking the picture of it, so today I went back. Found the key (woot!) and 3 more Indian heads including a really crusty one. So I am really happy with how the Deus is working, finding coins in places I thought were long tapped out!
