We had a party line. My Parents, Grandparents...and "Martina"...the old woman who was always on the phone. I remember talking to my friends as a kid with the constant third party breathing in the background. Whenever my Grandmother needed to make a call she would just pick up the phone and say "Martina"....and there was an instant "OK BYE" on the other end...lol

New title for your pic: "How we handled telemarketers and political calls (and politicians, for that matter) back in the day"

That brings back memories Jay, heck I remember when we had party lines and you had to wait for the line to clear to use the phone... LOL "D"

Oh yes! I remember flying to Seattle in the early 60’s and my relatives had push button phones. I thought oh my, so advanced. That is a nice find.

Phone calls were 20 cents at on point 15 cents people would toss a quarter in and the phone company literally made billions on the extra 5 cents

I posted to the thread before I read your post Lairmo, but you're right on the money!!! You could always tell when someone else was listening in on your phone calls... "D"

Our black Western Electric phone was an extravagance and it was strictly "hands off" for me, but the number was 3242..........

Hey ??? I look exactly like you...a few years ago before the stress got to my beard....lol

I’m 49 but I’m 70 in New Orleans years. Hard place to grow up that’s why I had to move 60 miles out. Saved my life Lol

We didn't have a phone until I was ten and then was the old black rotary type

Gosh it’s been awhile since I’ve used a rotary pay phone and it was just 10 cents to make a call

Yeah you right, now your area is starting to get like the Southshore, so you need to move on up here towards "God's Country", we don't have all that traffic and people crowding in on you up here... "D"
