Removing build-up from BRASS Nails??

Anyone know of a way to remove "rust" build-up from brass 1800's nails? An easy "solution" perhaps. Rather not file/scrape them.

I would run them in a rock tumbler. That seems to knock off the corrosion without making them shiny.
