This is a drone shot of the cemetery a mile north of my house. The red box is where a one room school sat from 1850 to possibly the end of the century. The concrete structure behind the school was a storm cellar for the school. After the school was removed the land reverted to the cemetery. I contacted the cemetery manager to see if I could detect school site. I got a very unfriendly NO!!🤷🏼

A no here might(?) be warranted, but all too often you get a no because it is easier to say than yes! If I had to ponder it, most of the nos I've gotten over the years made about as much sense as this one.

The first question I would want to know is do they somehow own that land up front legally? or is it a caretaker association of volunteers. Secondly, did you explain you only wanted to go in the front part? Is he the only person that can give permission to detect? Also, when people would go to burials or annual cleanups, etc., they would need their horses or mules to graze, and that sometimes means adjacent land might be worthy of inspection. Old trees around the property line might yield some relics and coins. I see what I would suspect is a line of trees on the far side of the gravestone. Good luck

I got a call from one of my permissions that is heavily involved with the cemetery community. Wants me to detect for the site property markers.
Also to detect where the church sat on the site.
I told him only if he is with me, I don't need some Karen giving me hell for detecting around the graveyard.

Maybe also wear safety color vest to be more obvious, meaning that you must be a contract worker rather than the public thinking you are grave violators. That might prevent someone from starting rumors about you if they know you.

In my world "Discreet" goes a long ways.

Back story: Detected many times with a member.

We don't need to attract attention in the fields.

The permission drove up, I lost that 250 multi site permission because that.
