Went out pre suppertime for an hour. Went to the noisiest ground I've ever been to. Lots of deep junk in the ground and yet I know there's
good deep stuff there too. Let me know if you guys have run into that problem before.
Not a lot but hilites are: A cool looking junker ring, a 1956 and 1965 Cdn. penny, and a 1969 Cdn Quarter.
Judging by the age of my finds, it tells me this park has not been MD'd, maybe never. I'll be back to this park sometime soon.
I wish I had a smaller diameter coil for it though. Too noisy. Sheesh. It was signal-paloozah in there!

Way back in 1983 I lived in a town called Cypress, in So. Cal. To escape from the wicked witch (wife #1) I'd go and detect the sports fields at the community college just across the street. Back then I had a Whites 5000 DII, a damn good machine for the time.

That college was built in 1967, but I got a deep signal one day near the football field, and about 12" down I found my first Indian Head penny...a 1902. I was thrilled, to say the least.

As to how it got to where it was, I have no clue, but I have to assume it came in with some fill dirt they used for the sports fields.

Yeah, ya just never know why we find items where they are sometimes. Right, it could've got pushed there.
This park I dig today (early 50's) was crying out for my shovel, cuz there's stuff wayy down...12" plus. Oh, I have a good enough trowel that can get there but it takes it's toll on my 66 year old hands.
Cool story there. I have an Indian head penny (1905), but I purchased it. 1902. That would be a nice find for sure!

Not know which machine you're using, in general, a smaller coil and faster recovery speed usually helps in a junky area.

Yeah it's true. I have an 8" coil and in junky area my machine will play too many tones to decipher what the heck is going on. I do have the option of a smaller coil, but that's on the bucket list. For now, we'll be finding lots of tunes through the headphones lol

Well, I have a Bounty Hunter Discovery 3300. I think they are in around 7 KHz. A Low-end unit but can still find the range with it. Solid Gold = new Metal Detector lol

Yeah, having a machine that is much more adjustable can sure help under some conditions.

I does discriminate a bit, but no where near the swing speed or versatility the expensive ones have. Still, I must swing on for now.
