Below is a photo of my total take doing a little metal detecting for the first time at the beach. Some from Ocean City and some from Chincoteague area. No silver, but 1 wheatie.

I'm totally deaf. I see many talk about hearing the right sound to identify objects, but I use a combination of my White detector's visual display and feel. I sweep with one finger on the metal shaft of the detector and can feel solid hits. I'm fairly new with this, but getting better as the photo shows.

Nice finds troy5rings. Thanks for sharing...

Great clad score troy5rings :icon_thumleft: I love the sand.

The sand was awesome to work in. My home area can be a lot of work, because of the clay, rock and mineral in the soil. I quickly learned how to work and shift the sand. I could usually pick the coins out by hand, but did use my homemade sand scoop (photos on my profile album) to shift out some.

Ever think about getting a garret pro pointer ? It vibrates also and the closer to the target the faster it vibrates.

Troy.... just a thought here but could you take the viberator out of an old cell phone and hook it up to the headphone speaker? Maybe then attach it to a braclet?

Great going Troy! I feel that knowing and correctly interpreting the information your machine sends to you is much more important than hearing tones. You are awesome!

I understand about feeling the good hits, bu accident. I was working a park by the railroad tracks in our town. When a train goes by i can't hear anything till it is totally gone, usually i just stop and wait. One day I wasn't getting any hits so I thought just keep going. Sure enough right in the middle of the train I crossed over a Quarter, and i felt it. Sense then I have payed a lot of attention to the feel of the machine. The ACE 250 vibrates more than the DFX. good work and keep at it.

Those are some good finds and it is awesome that you have found a way to adapt with your disability! I commend you and hope the finds just keep coming and coming and coming!

Welcome to t-net! NICE HAUL FROM THE BEACH! :hello: :occasion18: :icon_thumright: I don't find much on our beaches but enjoy frequent beach hunts when my legs & shoulders don't want to dig in hard-packed dirt any more! And I have dug several nice rings on the beach, including my only gold ring. Also found & returned a silver ring to a tourist who'd lost it in the sand that day. Besides the beach, I detect parks & old fields with foundations. HAVE FUN! Andi

I'd have to find someone with one to test it. I bought the White from a local dealer, because I had a White when I first lost my hearing at 13 yrs old and it worked well for me.

Thank you very much! I'm getting better with the detector, the more I use it. I noticed it loves quarters and gives a positive sign almost every time I hit one.

Thank you! I hope finds keep coming. Still waiting for my first piece of silver. I know I will get sooner or later.

I thought Ocean City beach would be picked clean, especially after seeing others who were MD that beach, but I found $2.26 in the area I saw another guy go through, so I know I did something right.

Id send you my pro pointer to try! Its my only one, but if you have a test garden set up you could use it for a day or two and ship it back....

Offer is open.

Congrats on the finds Troy!

I'm in the "near deaf" category, and have only one ear still functioning with
any hearing at all. It's tougher for us guys, but there are a few tools out there
to help us along:

Treasure Products, Inc | Home of the Vibra-Probe

The above Vibra unit attaches to the detector and vibrates when you cross
a target. It's made for those of us that don't hear, or hear well.

The Garrett Pro-Pointer would be another great tool for you (as said above),
as it vibrates when you get near that target, and is a huge time saver for recovering
located goodies.

Keep at it, and know you're not alone out there!

GrassButler, I did a little research on this and it looks like a great product. That's a very nice offer, but I wouldn't want to take your only one. We have a local club and maybe I can find someone with one. Either way, it looks like I product that would work for me. If it vibrates like every says, I can definitely feel it. I believe it has a light on it too. If so, I could have really used that late in the evening at the beach.
