Plan A, which had us returning to a field we haven't done in about 4 years was a bust after just over 1 hour of blanking. I hoped that with a new machine & a few turns of the plough we might get a couple of Roman Coin's & hopefully a Silver as rare as the one in the link above. Wasn't happening.

Therefore, we returned to the Roman Virgin Site that Cru'dad scouted out yesterday. He had 3 scrappies & 3 buttons in 1.5 hrs & the condition of the barley stubble had improved (weathered down), & the ground was still wet. We gridded in the opposite direct from our first coverage last month & had our best day on this site with just short of 3 hours hunting;
(4 hours total was enough in this sun!)

16 Roman Coins - 4 OK, which will go to the owners.
Tiny bit of Roman Fibula

The new machine was over 2 years ago, it's just never been over the first site we tried as we dropped it to the bottom of the list 4 years ago.

Crusader, another great hunt, thanks for sharing. You may have already posted the answer in the past but how do you clean your finds. Good luck with your hunts. Walt

Drool! Superb condition on the Roman!

As usual killer finds ..... you need your own tv show , I would definitely watch

Up until now, just warm soapy water, & lemon juice on some of the solid silver coins or gilt buttons.
However, I just got some Andres Pencils & they are turning out to be good for the Bronze Roman Coins which have encrustation.

Congrats on the nice finds! :occasion14:

Crusader, thank you for the reply. Walt
