I went back today to the WW II pilot training site for 6hrs. I concentrated primarily on the '"Pilots Park" area and in the field where the 'firing range' was located. I've identified the 'park area' in red and where the 'firing range' use to be in green in the 1950's photo.

Lots of modern coins, a Justin Bieber key chain and scrap brass. :BangHead: I also found a "Star' thumb-wheel for an HB&H (Holmes, Booth & Haydens) oil lamp burner, my first thought was that it might've been a silver 'fish-scale' 5-Cent Piece! This is only my second visit here, though I feel this site has to have been previously hunted due to the lack of older items being found. :icon_scratch: In a number of the holes, I found pieces of porcelain plates & broken cruet bottles. There were originally two farms located on this site when the land was 'expropriated' back in 1939 to accommodate the pilot training facility.

My best find for the day was the Canadian Armoured Corp RCAC Cap Badge Insignia. I currently have it in the tumbler, I'll post pics of it tomorrow after a 12 hour run.

The official badge of the RCAC is a mailed fist within arrowhead arcs, depicting the twin virtues of armour and mobility. The badge was originally designed with a King's Crown, which changed to a Queen's Crown in 1953 upon the ascension of HM Queen Elizabeth II to the throne. The legend on the badge has also changed. The RCAC was officially re-designated the Armour Branch after Unification in 1968 though the term Royal Canadian Armoured Corps seems to have remained in use.

Best of luck to all and thanks for looking,
Dave
