Went back to my site two times over the last few days and finished digging out the pit I mentioned in my previous post and did a little more surface hunting. The weather was brutal .....very cold and windy which meant I didn't stay too long each time so I will definitely be going back. This pit was shallow and was full of iron targets but very little lead and brass. I did manage to find some awesome relics though. The first few things to come out were lead splatters followed by a few minnies. Just about the time I began to think I wouldn't find any brass out comes part of an artillery hat insignia and a Hat Letter D and lastly a beautiful Michigan cuff button
. I couldn't find the rest of the artillery insignia but it has to be in there so I wil be going back and opening it up wider when it warms up. I found another fat boy 69, a button back to a coat state button, and some modern coins. I have found 3 different state buttons at this site now............Maine, New York , and Michigan. I'm hoping when I return later in the week there might be another one hiding in there somewhere. Devonrex
