I figured I would post this here. I posted it once on the finds section of the site and it didn't get much interest. I like finding buttons almost as much as older coins but I know much less about the buttons. I found these in a field and judging from the number of buttons that I found along with other relics the site appears to be a Revolutionary War era campsite. Just thought you guys might like to check them out as well.

I like finding buttons too! You need to get a good button book like Albert's if you want to be able to date some of them. You have a very nice site to hunt if those came from one area! Excellent finds!

thats a great button collection. i have only found two so far but they are a lot of fun to find. i cant help but try to imagine what type of clothes they came from. very nice

great buttons! I prefer buttons over coins these days...although colonial coins are still fun to dig for sure.

I have a button almost identical to your octagon shaped button. It's huge and has a beautiful green patina.

same here....I like buttons as much as I like finding old coins. They seem more personal like you are physically attached to the person who lost it.

Buttons finds make you think and wonder about the people that they touched, at least for me. One of your buttons reminded me of a button I found at an old cabin in the woods outside Greensboro.

Don't really know anything about it, of its era or anything. Nice looking display of buttons. Congrats on all of them.

Nice finds!!! I won;t go so far as to say I like the buttons over the old coins, but if it's not an old coin I am far from disappointed seeing a nice button...they rank a close second behind coins on my fav. finds list.

very nice buttons ....I love buttons too...........johny mc

Very nice EV. Buttons are my faverit by a mile.

Here is an update to this post. All of these buttons were found at the same site this summer/fall (including the ones in the original post). There are 51 buttons here. I gave 5 similar buttons to the homeowner along with a musket ball. My brother also found 2 buttons at this site. (58 buttons from site)

We have a field I bet there's been over 1000 found. Been hunting there for about 5-6 years and they still come out.

NICE buttons Evolution ... Imagine living in colonial America ...out in the cold, snowing like MAD, windchill like -15 and you pop a button on your coat...I consider buttons a more personal find.IronPatch has found some awesome buttons !

Keep 'em coming !!

Merry Christmas !!
