Reward & Advice

I have never tried coin roll hunting so I need some advice. On the beach this morning I found a very nice Blackberry cell phone device. I called the the last number that came up and left a message. A little bit later I got a call back from the owner who was still in town staying at a motel near the beach. I told him I was still on the beach detecting and he could come and get his device. He did, and as I went to shake his hand he slipped me two $20's!! I said there was no need, but he insisted.

So, now to my question. I'd like to purchase some coin rolls with that money. Are any of them better than others as to the chance of finding older coins? I mean Quarter or Dimes or Nickels or Pennies??

Re: Reward & Advice

I would concentrate on whatever denomination you like. For me, Mexican coins are good, the old peso, anything pre-1993 is quite good and gets me excited.

First....very nice of you to make the effort to contact the owner.....kudos to you for that. Another sign of decent folks out there.......

Second....My personal choice of rolls to buy would be halves. I think you stand a better chance of finding goodies since they are not commomly used.

Good luck to you.

Re: Reward & Advice

I say just go to a coin shop and buy 20 bucks worth of your favorite coins. Not that I dont love CRH and think you should give it a shot but if I was given a 20 dollar reward it would go straight into however many slivers and wheats i could get:-)

Good luck on your CRH:-)

Well, add $10 of your own cash and you can get two boxes of pennys.
Wheats are always fun to find, along with the illusive indian heads.

Exactly. With only $40 dollars, I would also buy cents. Build your wheat stash while you still can. Keep taking your rejects back and getting more! Turn that money into $40 worth of wheats. $40 doesn't go very far when you are buying halves.

As for the blackberry, you did the right thing. I would be lost without mine. Too many appointments and other info not saved anywhere else. You possibly saved that guys job!

Good Luck.

Great Job on the return of the blackberry.
I would also vote pennies if you are just wanting the fun of the hunt.

Re: Reward & Advice

Sell the detector. Use it and the $40 to buy and hunt halves. Sell the silver halves you find and buy a new detector in 6 months.

Excellent job on returning the blackberry too.
