Gib, without going to my buckle book, I would agree that it is post war. I usually consider those with that wide a tongue to be post war. Being post war it would sell for less than the civil war ones, but yours is sure a beauty.

Thanks. From what I've read, Ridabock didn't start supplying them until 1883 I think. I just found this today mixed in with bag of jewelry I bought. I can't seem to find one exactly like this.

I didn't find your maker but I found an example of your plate. In "American Military Belt Plates" by O'Donnell and Campbell on page 544, plate 917 seems to be like yours. According to the book it is an officer's plate from 1900 to 1920.
