I guess its the size of a rifle butt but is it ferrous? Doesnt look like a rifle butt.

There used to be a door lock that had two bolts.One full turn of the key opened one and the second turn opened the other.These were normally on houses from the '20's/30's,maybe earlier.Looks like the end plate from one of those double locks.
