Once again I had very little time after work and I happened to pass a school where I once found an 1881 Indian Head cent.
So, I figured what the heck and decided to hunt until dark, which wasn't very long; maybe an hour.

I picked a spot under a tree and immediately got a hit. I dug up ring # 12 but unfortunately, it's junk. I knew it wasn't silver before I dug it based on the tone so I wasn't surprised. No heart stopping disappointments today. A ring is still a ring in my book though.

Besides that I dug up 6 copper pennies, the oldest being a 1963, as well as a nickel and a few dimes and quarters. There were about 8 or 9 Zincolns as well but I already trashed those, not to mention the pull tabs and foil. There's never any shortage of that anywhere. I don't even count the Zincolns anymore nor do I waste any digital image space on 'em.

That's about it.

I've been staying away from the schools and parks lately but I do want to hit this place some more. I just have a feeling about it based on the IH and the 60's era coins. There may still be something to be had.

Thanks for looking and HH.

a ring is a ring, hopefully the next one will be the good one

Ya sometimes schools surprise you and you come up with gold. Nice ring find and coins!

I think I'm going to glue all my corroding zincs together and make door stop!

Good idea!!

The zinc penny is THE most pathetic coin ever struck anywhere in the history of coinage.
I've dug up 120 year old coins that are beautiful. Those zincolns don't last a week underground and they're a complete nuisance for detectorists.

I'd much rather dig pull tabs. At least then you have a chance at some gold.

Hi Garrett thing about zinc penny signals, sometimes can be a womans sterling ring !

Yup. On my detector it can also be medium sized gold objects so I have to dig 'em whether I like it or not.
I just HATE those things for some reason.

Good job G424. I am with you on the zinc cents. I dig them, but I do not like them. GL&HH!
