Advegas1 and I hit the beach a couple of days ago, he is visiting from Vegas. Vegas found this ring and I think there are real diamonds in it. There is something adhered to the ring. I am not sure what it is but its difficult to get off. Seems like precious metal (gold maybe). :dontknow:
There are 8 diamonds total. What do you guys think? ???

Channel set "stones"(probably glass) and gold plated.

Hey G, Just because the stones are 'channel set' doesn't necessarily mean they are glass/fakes. There are a plethora of 'channel set' DIAMOND rings, bracelets, etc. If you do a GOOGLE search on channel set diamonds, you'll find lots. So your stones could be the real deal. Since they are channel set we can't do the diamond/newspaper test, so you'll probably have to get a jeweler to look at them.

As far as the metal is concerned, we know that both salt water and salt water elements can do a J-O-B on gold. The old expression, gold & silver come out of the ground like it goes in is true, as long as it hasn't been exposed to certain elements, and in your case, it looks like some type of 'gunk' stuck all over it. Below are before & after cleaning pics of my 14K diamond ring. It was well worth the $20.00 to have it professionally cleaned. I can't tell from the pics if that is dirt, gunk, or missing plate on the ring, so I suggest taking it to a jeweler and having it tested. If it is the real McCoy, spring for the $$$ to have it cleaned.

Cool ring, Breezie

I have found a few channel set diamond rings. These are usually anniversary rings with the amount of diamonds for the amount of years married. This one does appear to be plated because of the gold scratched away exposing silver underneath. The material rolled around the bottom might have been attached to make for a snugger fit. I have found rings with thin metal rolled around the bottom for that purpose. As advised, you should have it tested.
