Platinum is rarely pure and is alloyed with other metals, usually nickle to give it hardness and to cheat the customer that pays for all Platinum.
Due to the different metals involved you should check all readings above iron. Due to the none iron mask of the XLT, if you discriminate out iron, you might not even hear the ring response that is near it.

I don't bother with VDI numbers either, they are inaccurate. PERIOD.
