I was digging for Indian artifacts at a friends place several years back and pulled this out. I have recently found treasure net and after reading a few post figure it wouldn't hurt anything to ask about this item.
It's definitely hard as rock but looks like bone.

Any ideas?

I had not thought of something like that. It was on top of a hill near a lake. I don't know of any shells in the lake apart from small muscle shells but who knows. Thanks

It "does" look a lot like bone. Have heard of fossilized bone before, but have never actually seen any.

I also believe that it is a piece of an old shell.

I really appreciate everyone's comments. It'll be a mystery as to how it got in North Georgia, but maybe it was brought in by Indians
