Rockhounds in WNC

I'm new to the hobby and was wondering if any long time hounds have any suggestions on places in western north carolina to hunt. What to look for while out and how much mining type work is involved. Also if any hunters want to team up and do a hunt sometime. Let me know, thanks everyone.

Since no one has responded I will offer the following advise:
For starters join a rockhounding club,MAGMA & SAMS are two I'm aware of in the Asheville area and Hendersonville has a good club. Too many places to list but joining one or more of these clubs will give you a window to a lot of locations and individuals who can help you tremendously.
