Dr. Joe:
I believe the legend would read something like TETRICVS CAESAR.
It shows the head of Tetricus, radiant crown.
c. 270s AD; could be TET I or TET II
Denomination: maybe an 'antoninianus'
Don.....

I posted on your "Beach and Shallow Water" as follows:-

"Hi Joe, I think Mac nailed this one, but I think Cru or SS will be able to give a definite answer. For now I think it looks very close to this one http://www.yorkcoins.com/images/BR321X2.jpg

"BR321 - The Gallic Empire, Tetricus II, Caesar (A.D. 270-273), AE Antoninianus, 2.97g., radiate draped bust right, rev., Spes advancing left, SPES AVGG (RIC 270; Braithwell Report #184

Hi Joe, the honours go to Don I think. He paved the way for an accurate ID. The secret was the "S * G" on the reverse. But as floodlight said there are quite a few similar variations.
