All Treasure Hunting
We returned to this field that we had given up on because we thought the ankle breaker looked disced over. However, it had actually bedded down because of all the rain/freezing & unfreezing.
Now that it was a little easier to navigate we continued our grid from where we had left off last year. Once again to our surprise we did much better than expected in this previously low yield middle section.
5 Hours;

20 Roman Coins
Tiny broken piece of Roman Ring
Roman Hob-Nail
Roman Locking Mechanism bit
Book Hasp
Roman Steel-yard Weight
A Roman Knife Terminal (Goddess head (Minerva?), our first female version)
1780-94 Northamptonshire Militia Button (First of this larger example, 2nd of this Militia)
Follis of Galerius AD294-97 - First of this Emperor! (Thats 2 outing in a row that I've had a new Emperor)
OTWBTTC Cru'Dad got the find of the day - Roman Bronze Terminal/Finial with an imperial Eagle on it (No idea what is was but most be Military/Offical, maybe a sceptre top?)

Cru'dad found this on the surface & after hearing it (he has no headphones) & turning around I could see it from 15 yards away!

I have put out some feelers on this one (couple of Roman Experts), but I'm not expecting much??

From very little looking I can already see the eagle varieties varied greatly through the ages and empire. Perhaps you will have luck not through the variety of Eagle, but because the size is so substantial. I hope your guys find a hit. Good luck

It's a long shot.

Great condition coins, but the knife top and the finial are awesome! Did you got any signs of roman military there?

Well, if you believe UK Archies then hob-nails are solely Military, so yes. Without looking at Cru'dad's records there maybe other signs other than the high Roman Silver Ratio at one end of the site, that may or may not be ritual activity. (highlighted by the Votive Lion)

Great day out there in the fields Cru, congrats to your Dad for the awesome looking find.

Great finds! Love the look of those Roman bronze coins.

Love seeing Roman history saved.

Thanks all.

What a great batch of finds. Those old coins are just amazing.
