Dad had been checking a field that had a sugar-beat crop & was late due to the wet conditions. They harvested it this week & just in time before the last processing factory closed. Whilst this field was too deeply ploughed to try, another nearby one was flat & ready to drill. It's a field that butts up to a Roman Quarry but we have never found that much, so rarely do it. Conditions were perfect so we settled in for the slog.
Funny thing was, that even with this monster of a field, I managed to start gridding right in the middle of a hotspot!

I had 3 hammered in 6 hours, best 1 day total this year & Dad added another!

Scrappy Roman Silver Denarius
4 Hammered - one scrace Continental Crockard
Rose Farthing
2 Scrappies
2 17th C Tokens
Tudor Button
Cornelis Janssen 1582 Antwerp Coin Weight8-)
Georgian Trade/Pan Weight
6th C Saxon Brooch:icon_thumright:
2 Medieval Leather Mounts
15th C Dagger Quillion (another scarce find)
Roman Bracelet Fragment
18th C Linked Button/Cuff Link - SILVER:coffee2:

Good stuff! I wish we had the opportunity in the states to find things like that.

great finds. love those silvers

Could you post a picture of your trash
a friend from england says there are a lot of coke cans

Really nice finds, it always amazes me how far history goes back. Where I am from a 150 year old find would be considered exceptional.

Medieval + Saxon and a bit Roman, good day! :icon_thumleft:

I get the odd broken up coke/beer cans, but its mostly;
Coke
Nails
Lead
Horse Shoes
Copper plate
Bronze slag
Shotgun shells

You definitely hammered that field - nice going!

Great finds. Do you have any idea what the item in the third picture from the top above the spoon bowl is? I found one in England several years ago. Thanks.
Dennis.
