Hit a new spot yesterday. It has been on my radar for years but I only managed to hunt it for the first time yesterday afternoon with my Dad.

Plenty of targets, mostly old. Almost no trash due to it being in a very remote location. Dug a button and another item that could be a button. Dug my first shield nickel. Date of 1874 was readable but overall it is pretty toasted. Soaking in olive oil now.

Dug a few iron items as this spot is best suited for relic hunting. My best item was an old style axe. I believe it could be colonial but I know very little about axes. 4.1" tall by 6.2" long (blade to end). If it is colonial, I believe it would be a good candidate for electrolysis.

Could someone help me date this axe, please?

The ones like that I have always considered early to mid 1800s, not colonial.
