Today we did another 3 hours 45 minutes & the rain held off until we finished.8-)
We are still getting more coins than we expected & to get 54 in total this weekend is good going!

I just wanted to add a couple of Roman Iron Nails to the pictures, so you can see the size of them, pretty big!

Very Rare Tin Farthing of James II 1684-87 (beat to hell)
17th C Token
2 Medieval Buckles
Nice complete Tudor Clothes Fastener (new type for us)
1st C AD Iron Age/Roman Strip Bow Fibula - our earliest find on the site
Saxon Pin Head:icon_thumleft:
Very unusual Chunky Bronze Buckle; 13th C Medieval

Glad some people can hunt.

Congrats on getting scarcer items. I expect "firsts" are getting harder for you to come by ?

Yes any first makes my day. I was very happy with the Clothes Fastener Dad got, never seen this type before & to still have it's hook is a bonus.

Great relic finds, you guys are going to unearth a ton of history in 2014, congrats!

Nice finds 😬
How do you clean your finds ??? They allways look in good nick

I only use hot soapy water & nail brush, then any good bronze I use Museum Quality Wax - protects it (but makes it a little shinny, no big deal because it can be removed safely; if required)

Nice pinhead! And congrats on the Tacitus!

Nice going on the really nice clothing fastener, the Saxon pinhead is a special find, and also the tin Farthing. Once again the Romans are outstanding.

Where are you hunting at the moment ???
Do you travel to do this or are you lucky to have all this stuff local ??

I live in gloucester UK and have been doing this for a year now but haven't found one roman coin lol
today I found my oldest coin a 1799 half penny

This site is only 10-15 minutes from my house (by car, although some of my sites are close enough to cycle), most places are less than 30 minutes away. The furthest sites are only 45 minutes away. But that's many years of building up contacts & permissions, plus targetted research. It took me many years to get my first roman coin, so don't give up yet, just keep learning.:icon_thumright:

Gloucester area is a good place. If you want help PM me?
