Do you who what type of site this is? The broken bits reminds me of a Metal Working Site? Any blobs of bronze found?

It was a roman fort and village
But the bronze leg and nut are from another site

I found a couple of the bronze "Nipple" thingys on a metal working site too. Together with other blobs is a good sign. Congrats on some nice looking coins!

Can somebody ID the sestertius ?

I've put a banner vote in based on condition & rarity.

You have very kind soil there and a lot of your coins come in good condition. Getting a rare one in that state is very cool! Please show some pics after you removed the dirt, but please be careful!

I soak them in soapy water for a while and use a toothbrush. Rarely do more to bronzes because the fertilizer here has soften the patina and it often goes away just under water. After removing the dirt i dry them and use antique wax as a last step. On such a valuable coin i'd be very careful and probably skip the part with the wax....

Great looking Roman! Thanks Cru for putting an ID on this one as it belongs up there for sure. I'm throwing my vote in on this great looking Roman.

Very neat! :treasurechest::thumbsup:
Good thing Crusader was able to ID it as being extra valuable!

Cru says banner... I vote banner. :award_star_gold_3:

If i didn't know better i'd say this was a crusader post. Awesome find!

Killer Sestertius! Can you provide diameter measurements? Possibly a weight in grams? I'ts clear that under the crust is a high-grade coin, if you decide to clean it I'm sure we'd all love to take a look. Those big fat ancients are awesome coins. Congrats on the find, and thanks to Cru for the ID.
