Rough Diamond

I found this item a few years back. It looks like a rough diamond covered in metal ,3 cms in lenght approx. It can score glass which makes me think it may be some sort of diamond. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks epmie

Judging by the shape of the formation, it is not a diamond, but a crystal quartz. I can see that the gem is like a rod, and the top of the gem is like a multiple sided pyramid, which quickly indicates crystal quartz

Also, anything harder than glass can score glass, and Crystal Quartz has a hardness of around 8, and most glasses are lower than that.
