Hi guys. I am looking to pick up metal detecting and this picture dowsing has me very interested. If I were to upload an aerial photo of my little town, 6 or so houses, would you guys be able to show me a few target areas? I know this town is old and had a hotel about a hundred years ago. There was an old school in the area too. I am ot sure what I am looking for but some old coins or relics would be cool.

Well, if that worked then you should see a nice picture of my little town. The School was on the west side of town and the Hotel was on the east. We had a post office, black smith and saw mill too. All around 1850.

EDIT: Even though this is in central Iowa, Sam Houston actually laid out the town. Cool little town with some history.

Red X for deep coins 4-5 feet deep. Red circles are loose surface coins/treasure. Green circles mark old stuff or archaeological type signals including Native American artifacts.

Thanks Red. I will try to check some of those targets and report back.
If I could I would like a little closer look at my neighbor's yard. The house was a stage coach stop and hotel in the late 1800s to early 1900s.

Looking for coin spills or stashes on this one.

I should mention that it looks like these overhead pics are about a year old. Also, We live on a 10 year flood plain. Last major flood was in 2008 and it put down a good 3-4 inches of new soil.

Loose surface stuff marked by red circles, the ones on the right side are a little deeper. Red X is about 4-5 feet deep.

Thanks Red. I will talk to the neighbor about getting access to her horse pasture, the field on the left of the picture. I am sure she owns the bean field on the right too but I will have to wait until after harvest to get in there.

I tried looking for a target from the first picture, the red circle in the center of the picture, but that area is really over grown right now. It is prairie right now but they usually mow and bail it this time of year. when they are done, I will go have another look.

Hi RESET,
Dowsing revealed an attraction to gold in the area of the green circle...possibly gold jewellry or small amount of micron gold.
Thanks for posting your picture,
Jon
