That's awesome!!!.

Good idea! How long does the battery last? Next thing ya gotta do is make the battery as big as possible and I wonder if those things will take more voltage and suck harder? Could make one like this guy

Thanks! I know it will fit a 4 ah 18volt battery, not sure if they get any bigger but there is some room it seems.

Cool thanks for sharing it with us.

They also make this 6 gallon shop vac. Battery powered.

Way Cool Jerry! You've started a nice thread, thank you!...............63bkpkr

I want one and have places here Wa. state to use it but can I use it on my claims in N. California ?

Paint it in a cobble colored camo pattern and you should be good.

Almost bought it but after reading the questions and answers on the home depot site decided not, the problem is fine silt clogging the filter and I have a lot of fine silt, clay and gooey mud.

Heck ya!! I could have used this when I was playing around in Ohio and the fine gold.

t that time I tried taking a 5 gallon bucket and a leaf blower mounted on top with a hose going into the sealed bucket. It worked real good for about 10 seconds. :laughing7: It was a learning experience...But I have a nice gas power vac for dry dirt if I ever need it, just doesn't work in water too good!!:laughing7:

That would be good for Alaska, but I don't know whether I could recharge it from the solar panels. My inverter is only 300W and my DeWalt charger runs 500W.

You could bring a few extra batteries and us it sparingly possibly? I think if only used to clean out pockets with visible gold and one batteries may last quite a long time like this.

Looks like the batteries go to 9 Ah, but don't know if that would fit. There is a bigger 6 Ah though.

But for $179 at Home Despot, it might be worth a try.

I'm looking at it for working under boulders and little pools in feeder streams.

If you used it to finish out cracks.. rather than a bulk material collector.

You could get a lot of use out of the battery time.

Goldwasher is right. Use the Ryobi for cleaning out the cracks and it will be a great tool. I’ve used both gas vac-pacs and an electric 1 gallon shop vac hooked up to a Honda generator. Collect the large amounts on top of bedrock with rakes, brooms and shovels, scrape and loosen the crack material, then suck it up with a vacuum.

Mike

No, I'd be using this for sucking out the hole once the shovel lost effectiveness. We have a 4 tine rake for cleaning out the +1".
