Sand Baskets

In the post below on "Great Southern Beach shootout 2008" there are a lot of great pictures including the 800+ taken by Mumszie.

Looking at the pictures there are people wearing "sand baskets" that look like hamster carries on their hips. Does anyone know where they can be purchased and how much they may be?

Hi Mat Sorry I haven't gotten back with you sooner but I haven't had any replies to my enquires. I know they are called sand baskets and several people were selling them at the hunt but not one of them has answered my emails regarding them. Hopefully someone up here can give you a better answer.

Yeah Mumszie - those are really cool - I can see how they would be really helpful to speed up the hunt in dry sand - please keep us informed if you hear anything on them - Cavedweller

If you enter " beach basket " & "Metal Detecting" on Ebay's search bar you will find them. I bought the one I use for the competition hunts off of EBay. You can also build your own using "cloth wire".

Ahhhhhh at last an answer.

One of the people that sell the sand baskets is Land and Sea Treasure. They even have a picture of them on their site.

Mine looks identicial to Belt Loop Type 2.

When hunting I use a bungie to strap it to my leg to hold it in place while I hunt....
