Sand shark repair

Hello all, I bought a new used sand shark for a song and am trying to restore it to it's glory. I have replaced the coil, headphones and the main o'ring as well as cleaned it up and used proper silicone coated wires inside. I am looking to replace the o'rings on the pot shafts but need the machine as a back up atm. I'm looking to see if anyone knows what size I will need to order abd if possible a supplier. I have been in contact with terry ( very helpful) who put me in touch with rusty and another fellow and they refused to give me the answer to this simple querry. Any help much appreciated. Thanks

fwiw, 50-200 piece O-ring assortments on Ebay are real cheap....

Hey thanks, heres my new question after some examination it seems that when the orings were installed that there were acrylic disks that were slotted down on the acrylic lid and glued in place to hold the orings on. I wonder how one needs to change these or if the glue can be unbonded without breaking the disk. I'll include a pic to show what I'm talking about. One can clearly see the glue under the disk and it is also apperent from looking at the side of the lid.

Hard to tell but there are 4 dabs of glue securing the disk on. I really like the case and want to keep it. Preferably before it floods but I guess if it does I will build another surf pi 1.2 from geotech to slap in it, thats basically all the shark is anyway basically, but with a pic microcontroller.

You should be able to use that toothpick and pry the o-rings out. Harbor Freight has a big kit of o-rings, or if you have a Fastenal nearby I think they will have them. Make sure you put diver's silicone on the new ones.

Thanks Carl. I was thinking the same but just wanted to make sure it was not a compression thing. I'm guessing it was done that way for ease of manufacture.

So for anyone interested, the orings used by tesoro for the sand shark turned out to not be just regular off the shelf orings. They used what is called a quad ring or x ring. I just ordered 100 if anyone needs some.

I was able to get o rings at my local hardware store.

Roger that Smokey, as was I. I was however in the process of replacing them when I noticed that they were not regular orings. I will attach an image of what mine looked like. How long have yours held up? Regardles I got some from mcmaster carr.

Do you have the Mc Master part numbers for the x rings and the case O-ring ? Looking to re-fresh my Sand Shark. thx
