Sand shark v the Whites Surf Duel ,whos the best ??

If you ever need warranty work for your lifetime the Sand Shark is the one to use. I think the Shark is deeper but how deep is deep? In the water now for wading the White's is a poor choice because you need to hold down the coil because it floats like a cork. This gets tiring after couple minutes. Course you can use a sand filled sock fastened to the coil or shaft and this adds water resistance. I think there are a lot more Sand Shark users posting good finds.

just a quick test of whats finding what under whatever conditions .
2 good PI machines.
i have a whites but maybe i am missing something without the sand shark in my collection

This is an Excellent question. The two machines are very similar, yet completely different. I researched both - and swung both, before choosing the Sand Shark. I think your answer, lies within you. Only you can determine how difficult, or easy to use each machine is for you. Since you already own the DF, why not find a friend with a Sand Shark, and swing it for an hour or so. In my never humble opinion, you'll never want to put it down! :headbang:

Just a friendly reminder since you own the df . The Whites boxes have a tendency to leak .If you hear it sound different when you turn it back on after it was the water earlier ,it may be leaking . Turn off immediatly remove cover and give it a couple of days to dry out. Sometimes it will crank back up .

its not easy to get hold of a tesoro sand shark in the UK ,very few seem to come into the country whereas the whites DF and Beachunter are available in a day off the shelf.
cant say i have even seen a pre used SS for sale either .

If I were to buy a pulse detector, and bearing in mind I do not go diving, my choices would be:

1. Sand Shark

2. Detectorpro Pulse

3. Dual Field

4. Garrett Sea Hunter

I have used them all. I like the Sand Shark due to its ease of use, its lifetime warranty (who ever heard of that in a beach detector?) and the exterior volume control (a BIG plus). I like the DP Pulse due to its light weight, exterior volume control, and sensitivity, especially to smaller gold.

Downside to the Sand Shark for me is the weight, the downside to the DP Pulse is that it sucks the batteries dry in no time (about 8 hours) and it could be constructed better, IMHO. But if you are reasonably careful about handling your equipment, you should be fine.

The Dual Field? It's a White's and they build quality equipment. But for me that 12" coil was just too unmanageable and wanted to float so darn badly, though there appears to be an after-market coil weight for it now. Now I know some folks who use it and love it, so it really just a matter of personal preferences. And everybody is different.
