The swimming beach, park and a small zoo was located in Sand Springs, Oklahoma just outside Tulsa in the 1920s. Town was fouinded by a wealthy oil philanthropist, Charles page. He also built an orphans home and widows. colony for widowed mothers with children. The springs still exist and are located just east if downtown Sand Springs aling the Keystone Expressway. The springs was once a Creek indian campground and watering hole for cattle drives going north to CoffeeVille , Kansas. These pictures are of circa about 1932. The park is now a housing addition and the lake just a nice place to walk along the trail from Tulsa. My family use to go to the park in the 1950s to shoot fireworks, picnic and swim on the 4th of July. The Polio scare nearly wiped out the swimming activities and caused the park to finally shut down in the mid 1950s.
