Hi all remember me! ;D

Right now I am on Vacation in Cold Rainy Santa Barbra CA.... :-\

:) I have not logged on in a long time, thanks to a new computer game. ::) I am however still addicted to metal detecting. ;D On this subject I have some good news and bad news...What do you want to here first...? The Bad News!!?? ::) Thats fine, the bad news is I don't know what the heck is going on. :'( On the beach I get a lot of false signals it seems. I did not find a thing. ??? My pinpointer goes off everywhere, if you just stick it in the sand. So i turned down the sensitivity but I still don't know if i am getting real hits. The Detector itself seems not to work on the beach also. Getting faint signals, and finding nothing in the digs or it goes nuts and I still don't find anything. I have only been twice to the beach. I don't know if its me or my pieces of **** detectors. >:( PLEASE HELP!! ;D

The good news is I have found some things inland the detector works OK! ;D I found about 70 cents in clad at the house I am staying in. The house seems to be be late 60's or 70's not old. Oldest coin was a 1965 quarter I gave it all to a homeless man. I found some bullets on a trail in the mountains.- X Two (2) smaller 22 pistol shells and One (1) Larger Cal. 50 Cal or so. I also found 11 dollars cash in a store after giving 10 dollars to another homeless person 10 minutes prior. :o Sometimes you can see Good Karma play out clear as day. You should not give to the homeless because they may or may not need something you should give just because its the right thing to do. ;)

Well have fun see you all later!
Keep @ it and HH!! 8)

PS: Please Help with the Beach Hunting if you can!

Come on someone please help me with beach hunting!

What kind of detector are you using?

I dont live near a beach so I dont get much beach hunting in. When you start getting false signals start backing your sensitivity down a bit at a time. As soon as your unit stablizes go with that setting. You may have to adjust quite frequently. In short, but probably a good place to start. Good luck and happy hunting.

I will be taking a trip out to that area soon if you want AIM me "detectorxcom", it would be nice to have someone to hunt with while Im out there.

GOOD TO HERE FROM YOU.Maybe you should hit the dry sand only.Thats if you are getting eratic signals in the wet sand. How about some photos of your vacation.O yea put the game down and get out detecing

Hope you are careful in the mountains, i have heard about the Cougars attacking bicyclists, and joggers. Tsgman

Hey MUD! :) Great to see you posting! I don't have a clue as to your beach hunting problems. Hope you can get it worked out. Congratulations on your finds so far and keep up the good deeds! ;)

Hey Mud,

Different machines act differently near the water. You may get very erratic signals at or near the wet sand line. Some do not do well in the wet sand at all. The salt and the minerals can create false signals. If that's the case you may have to stick to dry sand only. Picture the beach with people on it. They typically do not go closer or further from the water than a certain "line" Try along that line where people shake off their towels (and their rings, jewelry, change, etc). Be patient and good luck.

Ahhhh Great,

Thats the treasurenet I know and love, thanks for the advise! I will try to get you all some pictures of my vacation, sure. I will take the advise of most of you and mess with the sensitivity of my detector and try dryer sand if I can. The weather here has been been mostly all rain. I did some bank roll hunting and found one 1968 40% silver Half-dollar and a 1964 90% silver dime. In 20 dollars of half's and about $600.00 in dimes the bank let me search them all right there at the bank. hehe ;D

Keep @ it and HH!!

PS: Pictures soon!!

Hey Mud, that black sand down near the wet sand will raise havoc with a detector. Try some more ground balance and lower the sensitivity a bit, it should help some. I was out there in Feb. I was having the same issues until I made some adjustments. We were also at Santa Barbara. Had better luck down in Venice Beach. If you are staying at SB go north of the pier or on the far south part of the beach. There was more there to find. Take care...Lance
