Sapphires...

I'm an avid detectorist, on this site a lot. My father in law is a major rockhound, so I have decided to purchase 2 shares in the sapphire hunt through the local lapidary club.

The bags are coming from around the Helena Montana area. Does anybody have any advice for a first timer?

Congrads.. Your very fortunate to have someone within your mists that has been there and and allready has had experance in searching for all types of stones.. But I think the key thing you need to remimber is that (assuming your not in it to get rich) is that all stones can and will come in a verity of colors.. meaning don't allways assume that a sapphire is or will be "dark Blue" TeAra (at her FB page) has a great image of a "white" or "tan" sapphire.
