Found this sash buckle in Vicksburg today at a site occupied by Wisconsin cavalary. Anybody know much about these type buckles that can give me some more info. on them and their use. sash buckle.webp

I was looking at my finds this morning and I have that exact buckle. Mine was found at a spring near a Confederate camp. Wish I knew more about it.

Now that is cool. Very nice buckle. Must be civil war era find. Love it.
 
You & Relic Nut have the same buckle both from civil war territory. Sounds like you have a nice CW find. Lovely piece. Get some more from that spot.
 
Wow! That is an exact match. Thanks for sharing it. Mine was found in a Wisconsin cavalry camp. I had seen similar ones but your looks exactly like mine.

Nice find!
It is a ladies buckle, also for more info checkout the Steamboat Arabia museum web site, loads of them were found in that shipwreck.
