Made it out super early on Saturday morning at a recently acquired section of old city woods by the local land conservation society. Jer knew of a spot, I knew of a spot and there was one dot unexplored (turned out to be a bust). Louis was up for some hunting to round out the group.

I found a couple 1942 silvers, so that made my day, also a mystery worn copper alloy coin or token also popped. Rang up low on the Nox at a 20 for such large thick roundness???

Jer hoovered his typical hoard of goodies out of the 3rd spot.

His WW2 medal is interesting, dated 1939 Nazi Germany.

Louis found the oldest US coin with an IHP.

But the coolest find might be the little 2? ?carved? lead animal figure.

Does not appear to be the typical cast stuff we find. Not sure on age range on this little dude.

Good luck out there!

Looks like a lot of digging was done. I'm surprised you guys were able to get to three spots. The little lead animal is different, but I think the German medal is the FOTD.

looks like a fun and successful hunt. never seen a Nazi medal, very cool (I think)

Very Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Good finds. The Nazi medal is a ?War Merit Medal? (Fur Kriegs-verdienst), issued only to civilians in recognition of contribution to the war effort. Although dated 1939 it wasn?t instituted until 19 August 1940 and awarded mainly to those working in factories. Both Germans and non-Germans could receive the award until 15 May 1943 and then Germans only thereafter.

Thx Steve! Jer seems to bring home the FOTD most of the time. The little lead animal feels hand made, always like those personal items.

Thx for the info on the medal. Odd find in the woods of PA.

Looks like the wonky donkey.

Nice-looking spoon, but that's not a Nazi swastika. It's the wrong way round, and will be a good luck symbol from other cultural use. Anything on the back?

I like the really cool little animal

Awesome finds! Love the little dog thing!

Great assortment of finds- Congrats!!

The animal is a great little piece of folk art. Would love to know the story behind it.

Excellent finds you made especially the metal toy!

That was some outing and amazing results.
