Not quite like the chicago song, but a good time nonetheless. Daughter and i dug an indian, poor thing ,maybe electrolysis could help but still a first. also a winchester new rival shot shell brass(1920-1929).met a water detecting enthusiast, really nice to meet you , must have webbed feet as you were still at it 4 hours later when we left! H.H.All.

Maybe post a before and after photo of IH before electrolysis if you can. Good Hunting.

What year was the Indian?
As a rule of thumb, I don,t clean the Indians when they have that Green Patina on them. I think they look cool that way.
It was Good to meet You and your Daughter, Congratulations on the Indian.
I gave it up about 5:30, I was starting to stagger around like a Drunken Sailor. Time to get out of the water. I do not even Drink anymore!!!!!
I stayed in the public area and did not do so good.
Happy Hunting
Kevin

Hoo boy, terrible sins committed on indian head. Kid thought she read 18.. black on face side seemed corroded underneath. Time i checked at home i could read nothing. yes i know better. Anyway got stuff together for building unit tomorrow. oh didn,t mention find mark on back. I,m so proud! Kzack beware of guilt by association! L.o.l. we hunt together i,ll stay on land and violate old coins you can have anything in the water. H.H.All. Dan,being low tech i could try a shot with e-pad after. the before would be criminal evidence. We,ll see.

Sounds like you guys did alright , nothing wrong with a Indian Head and Better hunting next time Kevin you already know we can't get them all the time and you have been doing pretty good lately. Good Hunting!!!!

Did not want to overdo it on electrolysis till i gain more experience on guinea pig coins. Can read one cent and see shield and wreath. Date area worst part of coin and face very pitted. Lincolns were about same before treatment of first guinea, note pit in lower right quarter. About 5 minutes in unit and then scraped crud off with fingernail. Not recommended for a good coin! H.H. If you can't read the date heat up some Hydrogen Peroxide in a plastic bowel and put it in for a bout 15 minutes or put in Vinegar for a while it will clean it up enough to get a date...

Yes, that was what i had done yesterday,(same order too!),coin really had a layer of corrosion under, hmm not just patina on face side but a dark layer with soft ,dry powder under it. wierd? Back side (shown in pic.) Had nice green patina over most of it. Pits could be seen on face when dug, showed much more after .

It did not turn out real nice but it is still Your First Indian. Congrats on that,
You get a couple more of them and a few old Slivers and You Are HOOKED for LIFE.
It was a good day, I did pick up a pocket knife and another Coke bottle from Muskegon.
It sure beats setting on the couch.
That was the first Skunked day in a while Rob, been pretty lucky lately.
I am thinking I might head for Vida Weaver Park in Hesperia tomorrow, river should be low and slow.
Happy Hunting Folks
Kevin

Thanks Kzack. Missed a chance when river went around the dam and drained the back water. Did collect some fishing tackle by sight. Would have been fun detecting. Sounds like a great hunt, good luck if you go.:metaldetector:
