There's nothing wrong with being a coinshooter or a relic hunter. Heck I like finding both but somedays it's just coins and the coins always light up my imagination. In general I just plain old like finding old stuff!

Saturday found me still reveling in the joy of the club meeting I attended the night before. There's a certain kind of energy. You know everyone there is stoked to see others finds, show off what they found and be around other people with the same passion. I woke up before the sun and got out before it had the chance to rise. 28 degrees and the ground wasn't frozen yet!

I found a silver Merc dime on the second hole I dug. The first was a wheatie. I felt it was going to be a good day. It was my 4th time to this spot and I really wanted to find a Barber dime. The Silver Bandit had joined me and he had found Barber dimes every single time we went there... he might have found 11 or more. I'd like to find one too! Then in quick succession I dug 2 more Mercs and my coveted Barber dime (1916) at like 2 inches - practically on the surface! What a day! The next coin I found was a 1916 Merc! Wow could it be!!!???? It was not to be but that's ok. Still a beauty. I went on to find a couple IHP's, multiple wheats and one more Barber that was nice and clean! I love that feeling of silver in the hole and I love it even more when you brush a little dirt off to reveal the One Dime that means it could even be a seated! This turned out to be my best Silver day ever with 6 dimes! The Silver Bandit went on to pull an SLQ, Washington Quarter and two mercs. The Bandit pretty much always bests me. He's more patient and has a better detector and better technique. I think between the two of us we are approaching 40 silvers at this one spot!!! Pretty crazy for a city park! I can't even comprehend what it must have been like in the early days at the parks used by thousands of people every year. Thanks for reading and best of luck to everyone out there as the grounds start to solidify.
