There's nothing wrong with being a coinshooter or a relic hunter. Heck I like finding both but somedays it's just coins and the coins always light up my imagination. In general I just plain old like finding old stuff!
Saturday found me still reveling in the joy of the club meeting I attended the night before. There's a certain kind of energy. You know everyone there is stoked to see others finds, show off what they found and be around other people with the same passion. I woke up before the sun and got out before it had the chance to rise. 28 degrees and the ground wasn't frozen yet!
I found a silver Merc dime on the second hole I dug. The first was a wheatie. I felt it was going to be a good day. It was my 4th time to this spot and I really wanted to find a Barber dime. The Silver Bandit had joined me and he had found Barber dimes every single time we went there... he might have found 11 or more. I'd like to find one too! Then in quick succession I dug 2 more Mercs and my coveted Barber dime (1916) at like 2 inches - practically on the surface! What a day! The next coin I found was a 1916 Merc! Wow could it be!!!
