Saturday's Hunt: IHC & Merc

I left early Saturday morning to go meet P@tch for a hunt. Our permission fell through on us, which bummed us out, however, we decided to make the best of it.

We ventured to another permission spot, old tear downs, now just grassy lots. The storm drains were installed in 1912, so that was encouraging. We hunted for a few hours and both us found a couple of keepers.

I was able to locate the following treasures:

- Brass back plate for old pad lock.
- Red Goose Shoes token.
- Flat button.
- Lead seal with "R&D RR" on the back and number on the front.
- Unknown object. Maybe a zipper pull?
- 1940 Wheatie.
- 1942S Merc.
- 1903 IHC. The backside is really nice, but the face has seen better days. Reminds me of a girl I used to date...

YTD silver coins: 11.

Thanks for looking, and best of luck on your hunts!

I think I met her years back around Myrtle Beach? Nice digs buddy, how was the weather? I got wet yesterday, found a 1942 Wheat going over a hot spot from another direction.

Oh we call those types "but-her-faces". Very nice finds Tom. That RR seal, IHC, and Lock are the oldest of the group I'd say. Nice scores dude

Nice finds! Thanks for sharing...

Update: The lead seal is "Richmond & Danville RR". It appears that they went out of business in 1894.

Major rail link during the War of Northern Aggression! I bet this seal was on a shipment of CSA belt plates!

The lead seal was found about 300 meters from the RR tracks!

Nice finds Tom! You need to go back and find those belt plates that seal was used on!! Cool finds buddy, congrats.

Nice mixed group of finds! Congrats and HH

Nice gathering of treasures, Tom, congrats! Sub 8-)

Congrats on pulling those keepers Tom, :occasion14: Not a bad days worth of finds after all. Those who have good secondary plans often reap great rewards. GL & HH

Nice hunt man! So that's what silver looks like. It has been a while since I found any. I need to get in on one of yours and P@tch's "guaranteed silver hunts". I'm not above driving 3 hours round trip for a Merc. :laughing7:

Nice diggs.
Love the injun

Looks like a good hunt to me Tom.:flag_orange::icon_thumright:
