December in Massachusetts means cold days, and colder nights. Before you know, the ground will be frozen solid, and the 2018 detecting season will come to an abrupt end. A very sad state of affairs!
Today was a bright, sunny day in the low 30's, so I made a point to get out digging for a couple of hours. After some wandering around, I got a scratchy signal with a jumpy VDI that peaked in the low 90's. Out pops a large cent.

Checked the hole with my pin pointer, and got another signal. Some rooting around produced a big rusty nail.

Checked the hole again...yup...another signal. Out comes two 1853 Seated Liberty Half Dimes. I've never found one of those before, so I was thrilled! Now that's what I call a coin spill!

A few feet away, I get a faint, but repeating tone in the mid 80's. It took me a while to hack through some roots, but I was rewarded with a trime. It turned out to be pretty toasty, but I still love it.

The rest of the day was pretty quiet, but I did manage a 1939 Mercury dime. If this is how my season ends, I will have no complaints. Thanks for taking a look. HH
