I have a great place to hunt right in my front yard. It's an old trail that ran across my creek. I have found many points and artifacts and campsites on the knolls beside the creek. I had never, ever found anything in the creek. I looked with envy at all the stuff that NC Peaches pulls out of her creeks. The other day the water had gone down exposing one sandbar, I spotted my first creek pottery. One of the best that I have found. About 2" long with a raised pattern. It probably washed down from NC:laughing7:. Tony

Cool. It's a good sign there's more!

That's a real nice one! and maybe it did wash down from up here because I'm not finding a thing in my creek lately! Seriously, real glad you found some pottery and probably just the beginning!

Must of been paddle stamped if it is a raised print usually its the other way around. Doesnt look like any I have found so I couldnt give you a time frame on it.

That's the only piece of raised pattern that I have ever found. Tony

Oh yeah! That's a nice piece! Keep looking for more. If I had an accessible creek, I would make a sieve on a long handle to sift thru the sand.

Beautiful design on that piece...Congratulations!

Looks almost like iron ore or sandstone might not be pottery. I dont want to spoil the thing cause I might be wrong. Might be a fossil
