LONDON (AP) -- This was a bug you couldn't swat and definitely couldn't step on. British scientists have stumbled across a fossilized claw, part of an ancient sea scorpion, that is of such large proportion it would make the entire creature the biggest bug ever.

Yep... eurypterid. Nasty customer to encounter, one must assume.

There were also some super-size ancestors of centipedes in the 6-10' range. Google arthropleura and see what crawls out of the Paleozoic ooze.
 

Sometimes you're the windshield, sometimes you're the bug. In this case, I wouldn't want to be the windshield.
