I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I found a third lined C cavalry button within sight of where the other three confederate buttons were found. I also had a slew of other finds this weekend. I found a very nice half to a silver plated sash buckle, some buckshot, a half to a horse bit, many kitchen utensils, one with a civil war era pewter circle design, and an old unmarked .38 casing. I also found another piece to the old scythe whetstone, along with some clothing articles. After reviewing the old maps for the area, I realized that the main road in the 1860s was in the holler just down from the house, so I decided to check there and found a slew of UMC co and WRA CO shells, including an old brass grommet. Along with these casings, I also discovered three or four Finnish WW2 7.62x54R casings marked VPT and a 1940s date code. Another killer day for the books!
