I wasn't metal detecting, but rather just doing a quick survey. Below are some photos of the site and things I eyeballed while I was there! The only thing that came hgome with me was the 1964 Virginia license plate.

Does anybody know what the long bar is with the spike on one end and flattened on the other end might be? It is 5 feet long, and 1 1/4 inches thick on the flat surface and heavy as the dickens!

Also, I am curious about the rock piece with a number on it is?

Anybody know what the date of the cabin might be?

Thanks for looking!

... Here is the rock piece and some other photos from today:

I could be wrong but I believe the long bar with the flat portion is one side of a steering axle for a large wagon or farm equipment. And before someone chimes in, yes the wheel with an internal bearing fits over the square but pointed end. Also, the old house was likely built in the 1920's to possibly the 1930's.

Thanks .. I was thinking along those lines, too, but I can't understand why it is pointed on the end. Click on the phot to enlarge it, and the spike(point) will become more obvious. It's an odd piece!

The piece with the knob on it is a mower sickle bar and the bar with all the points is a mower bar. The sickle slides into the mower bar.
