Hello all,
It's been a while since I've posted anything. I haven't had a chance to get out much with my work schedule, so I figured I would take full advantage of my day off to hike out to the site that started the hobby for me. This was the very first site I ever hunted over 20 years ago, but I hadn't been to it in probably close to 10 years. I found my first Seated and Mercury dimes there and a number of other pretty cool relics. Anyway, the site is extremely hard to get to now, but I pushed through the brush and managed to find a few good relics! There is a TON of iron at this site, but the AT Max did a pretty good job of cutting through it. I spent a few hours there. The WWI Great Seal button really got my heart racing... I thought it was a copper! I'm definitely happy with it though. I also found a couple of old stop sign reflectors, a dog tag, a couple marbles, and a couple overall buttons. The sun was starting to go down, so I decided to head back home. I started following an animal trail back down the hill, swinging the detector along the way. There was still a lot of iron, so it was hard to get a good signal. After digging a few pieces of iron and other junk, I got another choppy high tone. I dig a hole and saw what I thought was a piece of aluminum come out. I pick it up to put it in my pouch and got a huge surprise when I saw that it was an early 1800s coin silver spoon!! After cleaning it off, I could see some initials on the end, but they were partially cut off for some reason. It's a shame that it's so bent up, but I'm definitely not complaining! I can't believe that it's taken me over 20 years to scratch this one off the bucket list. It made it all the more special that I found it at the site that started it all for me! Thanks for looking!
