Here is the Navy ship SCS GRAYFOX. It is a training ship for the US Naval Sea Cadets and also designated as a Navy
Reserve Training Facility.
We toured this ship last summer during one of the festivals in Port Huron. Following is a little info from the
brochure in case some of you are interested.
The US Naval Sea Cadet Corps is for young adults from the ages 11 through 17 years of age.It provides our young adults
with the opportunity to develop their mental, moral, and psysical abolities, instilling in them good citczenship,
patriotism, duty, and dicipline, with respect for themself and others.
The GRAYFOX is a training ship used to offer training in all aspects of shipboard operations. She is currently the
largest Sea Cadet training ship in the United States. Although she is used mostly for Sea Cadets, we also have Marine Cadets,
Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, NJROTC,Sea Rangers, and other youth organizations that train aboard the vessel.She is also used
as a Navy Reserve Site. The GRAYFOX is operated and maintained by cadets with NSCC Officers and instructors, Navy and
Coast Guard personel serving in a supervisory position. There are also several civilians who volunteer their time

Fossis, Yes, I think so, too. It is a good opportunity for kids. They stand to benifit so much by being a Cadet. When
we toured the ship and heard what the guide had to say about their program and see some of the kids, I was quite
impressed. Thanks for your reply.
