Okay, so I read alot of posts about the falsing issue with this slimline coil & people switching to the explorer II coil, & than I heard that minelab has an updated slimline coil that fixed this problem.
So I decided to call Minelab & talk to their staff. When I called, I said there were detecting friends of mine who had the slimline coil & in certain conditions it became noisy & was falsing under certain soil conditions. Then when they switched the coil to an Exp II coil, the sound was crisp with no falsing issues. "She said she did hear of this issue". She asked me when I bought my detector, & then she went on to identify that minelab was aware of the problem & by Feb-March of 2007, the problem was fixed. She didn't get into the details of the problem but it was corrected as soon as there were problems identified. So if you bought your SE detector prior to March 2007, you can call minelab & give them the serial number on the coil & you should be able to get a replacement if it was one of those earlier models that caused the falsing.
The woman who called me actually called me from her home # the following day, since the day I called they were very busy, I thought they totally forgot about me. Excellent customer service there at Minelab...
