Found this pendant at an old homesite. It says "Sears National Baby Contest 1934 Honerable Mention" Its always fun to find well known company names on relics! Also a 29D Wheat, a brass buckle, and of course some of the usual junk. Better than my average day though! HH

Hey that sears token is pretty cool. Probably very few of those made. Nice!

That should be in honourable mention.

Good find. Do you know who owned the property? It may have been someone who lived there. It would be cool to see if you could connect that medal with the owner (although they might have passed on by now), relatives or maybe even the baby who actually came in Honorable Mention. Now that would be a great story.

Cool Find Dennis !

LOL On the "Honerable Mention"
that meant "Looser" but attended :tongue3:

I Wonder if it was done in Person
or the Mail & all last places Got the Honorable Mention.

Sears sponsored The National Baby Contest in conjunction with the 1934 Century of Progress World’s Fair in Chicago. All together, 114,364 babies were entered in the contest for a total prize purse of $40,000 – $5,000 cash and a $5,000 R. E. Wood College Education Policy went to the winning baby. The final selection was made by popular vote, with Marilyn Yvonne Miller of South Dakota receiving 24,000 votes. The cup you have was presented to one of the babies who received Honorable Mention. This prize included a small medal and a small silver cup. We do not have a list of the Honorable Mention winners.

And...it's gold plated...
